The Dale Trust Guide to Travelling to Truro.
There is a lot of information available about travelling to away grounds; this guide is intended to be used in conjunction with that information. It’s not definitive, but it may be helpful, Traveller.
Truro City is, according to the AA route planner, 5 hours 44 minutes away (non-stop), which is 348.6 miles. That is probably the longest journey most will have ever made, if you actually make it that is. In reality, with pit stops for breaks and without road works, it will be 7 hours!

We understand that various arrangements will be made, including weekend stopovers, overnight trips, and all involving cars, trains, and even planes.
We appreciate that there is no Trust coach for this Trip, but for those who want to travel on Friday, National Coaches can accommodate, and at a reasonable price. However, please note the actual travel time it takes and whether it is a return ticket.
We have broken this guide down into two parts: the main journey by car or train, including the station and airport details for those flying.
The second part is for when you are near the ground and in Truro itself.
The Journey.
By car. While most, if not all, will be using SATNAVS, there is some information that might help, especially if, or more accurately when, you hit traffic below Birmingham.
The route we planned is from the COA, so it will need some adaptation. We used the AA Routefinder; it updates regularly and tries to offer alternatives if needed.
The route we looked at is HERE; it provides a full breakdown of the route, directions, and points to aim for. It’s worth a glance and can be accessed on any device with internet. You can set it to avoid certain areas, known traffic issues, etc.
For those who prefer a printed version, it is included below.

By Train.
Again, depending on your weekend plans Trains can be used, there are several booking sites to use and we include them below, its worth remembering that the return train after the game, ie 7.30 pm onwards will be a very long journey indeed, timewise that is, arriving well into next day, so using the Train will probably be for those that plan a over night (at least ) stop over.
Truro is on the main line between Penzance and London Paddington, with direct connections to Plymouth, Edinburgh and the Midlands. Along this mainline, you can catch one of only two sleeper services in the UK. The Night Riviera Sleeper will take you from Penzance to London Paddington (and in the return direction) six nights a week.
Here are the Train travel booking sites if you need.
- National Rail
- The Train Line

There are many travel sites on the web, so it’s worth a good look around. We based our travel on departing Manchester Piccadilly Station.
How to get to the ground from Truro Station, (though we appreciate this may involve a diversion to a local hostelry in the Town itself! We help with that further down the pages.)
From the station

The ground is approximately 3.1 miles from the station, a four-minute drive by car (Taxi), although walking it will take a bit longer, approximately 10 minutes.
