Dale great Smith guest of Trust

The Trust are matchball sponsors for the game against Tranmere this afternoon, and our guest is one of the all time greats to have featured for the club.

Our guest this afternoon is Graham Smith. Smith joined Dale shortly after England had won the World Cup, and he proved to be a great acquisition for the Club as he went on to make 373 appearances for the Club between 1966 and 1973. He was part of that fantastic 1968-69 side that secured the Club’s first ever promotion along with the likes of Reg Jenkins and Dennis Butler.

He left the Club as the Club’s record appearance maker, and that was a record that stood for many years until we signed a certain Gary Jones. Coincidentally, Graham was at Vale Park last week for our 3-2 win against Port Vale. He will be attending today’s game with his wife Jean.

Three Trust members were picked at random from the membership, and they will all be bringing a guest to this afternoon’s guest. They will each enjoy a pre-match meal in the 1907 Lounge, along with a free ticket and programme to watch today’s match against Tranmere. Those Trust members are David Andrews, Howard Bradley and David Barrett.

There are two more matchball sponsorships this season, and if you would like to be in with a chance of winning this package and dining with a Dale great before the game, join the Trust today.
