As a trust we announced recently that as one of new initiatives and something we had long wanted to establish for some time was our welfare section.

You can read our original post which was posted on the Daletrust web site three weeks ago and on various social media pages HERE It’s useful as it explains the background.

Things have now moved forward,

The Team

Well we can tell you now that the Welfare team of three will be led by Charlie Stansfield, or just Charlie as she prefers to be known and will be supported by two other experienced board members, Bob and Jane who are also suitably qualified for the tasks.

To contact the welfare team there is a dedicated email address which is

welfare@daletrust.co.uk

this email is monitored by two of the team led by Charlie and it will be Charlie in the first instance who will reply.

We also have a dedicated phone line which though switched on 24 hours we cannot guarantee it is monitored 24 hours, but again we will respond as soon as we can

The Telephone number is 07795 216741- and again is a confidential line.

Both the email and phone line are for the exclusive use of the welfare team and people wanting to access us.

The team also have on the Daletrust web site (www.daletrust.co.uk ) a welfare link, clearly indicted at the top of the page. Within this link there will be information on help organisation, a more detailed description of what we do, plus a gallery, hopefully of good news photos which we have been sent.

The welfare link will be updated monthly and hopeful will help sign post members to organisations of interest.

The Welfare link is still being set up now and will start to have additions added to it over the next few weeks.

As I said in the email of three weeks ago

The trust has long been concerned that we are not always able to be “there” for members who themselves may be at a place in their lives where things just are not right and at times may feel alone and conversely we may not be there when the good news flows to which may need celebrating.

But one thing we want to stress now to all members is that any welfare item is treated by the team with full confidentiality, this section of the trust work is in confidence from the general board, so unless we feel some one is in harm’s way, it stays with us. It is also in confidence should we be needing to spread a surprise birthday greeting or two, or highlight a special event, nice things can be surprises as well! And we want to know those as well, and yes, exiles, that includes you, whichever country you’re in.

As an aside, whilst this section is for daletrust members, we recognise that we are all part of a much bigger team and that is team Rochdale, non trust members who think we can help are welcome to contact us, though we will probably sign post you to the most suitable agency or area of help, we will respond though to any enquiry we get.

Whilst we have no magic panacea for this, we feel we need to be “available” to our membership at those darker times. The team does have specialist counselling skills but it is NOT our intention to offer counselling,

Whilst we are not offering a counselling service, what we are prepared to do is listen, be that person who actually hears, it’s called “active listening “and that is often the first step in someone making progress and feeling better. Together we can, if needed sign post to agencies or just other members who may be able to help.

To make this work, we need the memberships help in informing us, when considered appropriate, of a fellow member’s needs. Sometimes just a chat or an email can help, especially at those times like bereavement and loss. Any correspondence to us is treated in strictest confidentiality.

Please also remember, this is for exile members as well, please do not feel excluded.

But our welfare team are also concerned with the happy times and want to know about those special birthdays in people’s lives, even more about the births of new Daley’s, our future supporter voice. We will bring more on this in the next week, but birthdays, members special days will feature heavily in our work.

Please remember though, any good news photos or information will need the permission of the person in the photo, so before we activate any response we will require you to tell us in a email that you have the permission to send us photographs etc..

The team will post in more detail on these topics over the next week, so keep a look out for these posts.

In the mean time, if you have any specific suggestions or ideas how we can make this a better service, then email us on the email address above
