Dale in the Community Update

Have a read of the latest update from Keith Hicks and the Dale in the Community Trust.

Matchday Saturday Club

Dale in the Community Sports Trust will one again be running their popular junior matchday club when this Saturday. From midday until 2pm the community coaches will deliver fun sessions to the youngsters who attend, before finishing up with 5-a-side matches. The young supporters will then receive a lunch provided by McDonalds, before taking their place in the family section of the Pearl Street Stand. The cost of this, including their matchday ticket, is just £10! If you have your trust card you can get a 10% discount so it only costs £9!

Youngsters are supervised throughout the day by Trust coaching staff, with the matchday club open to 5-13 year olds.
Anyone interested should meet up at the community office, which is at the back of the Pearl Street stand, at midday

BIRTHDAY TREAT/MASCOT

Today’s birthday boy is Spencer Allen, aged 11 who is a pupil at Norden Community School.
His all time favourite player is Ronaldo, which might explain why he plays as a striker for his Junior Club.

Spencer is also a keen cricketer, who represents Norden & Lancashire County Cricket Club. Hobbies are described as playing FIFA 15 and chilling with his friends.
I’m sure he will enjoy his day out at Spotland especially when he leads the players out prior to kick off.

FUTSAL SCHOLARS AT LEEDS ARENA

Last week, we witnessed two exciting matches against Scunthorpe United with the “A” team drawing 6-6 with an usual turn round, which saw us conceding three goals in five minutes then scoring six without reply followed by three unanswered goals by our opponents-very weird events.
Scorers were Lewis Stagg 2, Mike Lawless, Dominic Toft, Louis Robinson, Tom Taylor.
The “B” team in a much more sedate clash drew 3-3 with all goals scored by Brad Hancock, who deservedly walked away with the Man of the Match Award.

ROCHDALE AFC LADIES UNDER 15’S

Since our last report, the girls have again turned in decent performances against much more experienced teams from Denton and Glossop.
The match against Denton saw the girls lose 4-6 despite an extremely poor performance by the referee who turned down at least two blatant penalty appeals plus three attempts hitting the woodwork meant that the hat trick from Moet Griffiths and goal from Emma Flynn saw us losing out by two goals.

Emma Flynn was again voted player of the match by the referee for her all action display and encouragement to the rest of the team.
We have now played the top three teams in the North Manchester Girls League and although not too successful with points on the table, the way the players have adapted to the way we expect them to play and behave is really impressive.

Recently, Jamie Allen took time out of his busy training schedule to demonstrate a few skills to improve technical aspects of their game-hopefully this will be a positive development.
