Dale Trust are delighted to announce the first Dale legend who will be joining us for the matchball sponsorships this season.
The Trust are sponsoring the matchball when we host Walsall on Saturday 25th August. As part of that, a draw will take place for six Trust members to join us as our guests. Last season saw us add to that by inviting back a former player to join us as our guest, with Shaun Reid, Steve Taylor and Steve Whitehall.
Our first guest will be goalkeeper Tommy Lee who left Spotland ten years ago. Tommy was forced to retire from football last season due to shoulder problems after ten seasons with Chesterfield.
His time with Dale may only have been a brief one, making just a handful of appearances for the club back in 2007-8 on a loan spell from Macclesfield, but his place in Dale history was sealed forever during the Play Offs penalty shoot out with Darlington when he stuck out a foot to save Jason Kennedy’s spot kick and help send Dale to Wembley for the first time in our history.
