Dale in the Community Update

Here’s the latest from Keith and the Team.

JACK FARRARJack Farrar

We received sad news recently of the passing away of one of Dale’s oldest supporters, who started

as a young boy and missed very few matches until he became ill in October 2015. Jack was a loyal and fervent fan, even taking annual leave to help level the pitch and build terraces in the 1950’s. He was delighted to have his whole family around him both times Dale gained promotion. His all time favourite player was Reg Jenkins and his proudest moment was being at Wembley when Dale reached the Division Two Play Off Final.

His son, Mike Farrar CBE, sits on our Football in the Community Trust Board giving us the benefit of his undoubted expertise in the Health Industry.

The family have gratefully asked for donations to be made to the Football in the Community Trust, an extremely considerate gesture.

TODAY’S MASCOTcharlie metcalf

Charlie Metcalf, who was seven years old on 14th February will be enjoying the popular mascot package today.

He plays for Pennine juniors Under 7’s in a striker’s role and quotes Ian Henderson as his favourite Dale player.

He attends St Edwards Primary School in Castleton in Year 2 but loves playing football with his friends and brother Archie when not in School.

KINGSWAY PARK – KINDER + SPORT FUTSAL CUPKingsway Park at Rochdale AFC2

Pupils from Kingsway Park High School Year 11, who represented Rochdale AFC at the Kinder + Sports Football League Futsal Cup Regional Finals were presented with a trophy and medals for winning our Rochdale High Schools tournament during half time at the home game match against Burton Albion, thoroughly enjoying their day out, especially with the 2-1 home win.

FOOTBALL LEAGUE UNDER 13’S GIRLS ONLY CUP

Also at half time, Scott Tanser presented a trophy and medals to the girls from Cardinal Langley High School, winners of our Rochdale High Schools tournament and who performed so well at the Football League Trust Regional Finals at Barnsley recently.

The students will be visiting Spotland for the home game against Burton Albion on Saturday 30th January to receive a trophy and medals for their exploits in winning our own High SchoolFutsal Cup

HALF TIME CHALLENGE MATCH – ROCHDALE AFC LADIES UNDER 9’S v CORPUS ROCSUnder 9s v ROCS

At the same match against Burton Albion, Siobhan’s Under 9’s team played against a mixed Under 9/10’s team representing Corpus ROCS from Oldham, both teams who take part in the North Manchester Girls League.

It turned out to be a cracking game and a brilliant experience for our youngest squad of players, who have really gelled into a formidable team resulting in a couple of fantastic results last week beating Denton 4-0 followed by a 2-0 victory over Bury.

See you all again on Tuesday night when Crewe Alexandra come to Spotland in a re-arranged fixture.
