FUTSAL SCHOLARS AT LEEDS ARENA

Futsal squad 2014 15

Our “A” and “B” teams played the first round of matches in the North East Regional League at the Futsal Arena with mixed results against Leeds United.
“A” team lost 3-6 after a very slow start which resulted in 1-5 deficit at half time but a marked improvement in the second half saw us win that period 2-1 making the score a little more respectable.
Goal scorers were Brad Hancock, Daniel Licata and Lewis Stagg.
“B” put in a fantastic performance winning 7-2 against very physical opponents with goals shared between Mike Lawless 2, Tommy Taylor 2, Boris Gah, Aldair Cotu and Sam Gregori.
The “C” were scheduled to play against Scunthorpe United last week so I will report back in the next programme notes.

ROCHDALE AFC LADIES UNDER 15’S
Our newly formed ladies under 15 side competed in their first ever fixture on Saturday, going up against Heyside Angels in the North Manchester Girls League.
They put in an excellent performance against last season’s Champions, but after conceding three in the last ten minutes fell to a 2-4 defeat.
We had been ahead in the game through an Olivia Storto double and had hit the bar twice and the post before going on to concede late in the match.
Emma Flynn was voted player of the match by the referee.

Rochdale v Heyside

Rochdale AFC Ladies under 15’s also recently beat Chadderton Park Girls 4-1 in a fantastic display of free flowing football with goals by Nicola Delaney, Moet Griffiths, Olivia Storto and Jessica Harrison.
It’s been an absolute pleasure working with this group as most of the girls have never played junior football before, indeed one of them has never played any kind of structured football.

The setting up of the under 15’s team is a result of the FA/Football League Trust’s Female Football Development Programme co-ordinated by Nicol Meredith, which locally as seen over 180 girls aged 14+ taking part in our football coaching sessions.

Plans are to develop the Club further with three age groups identified for next season and eventually a thriving set up delivering football for under 8’s – open age.

For Information about any of the above, please visit the Club’s Website or ring Keith Hicks on 01706 643836 or 07958593121
