Investment update – April 2024
On Saturday 13th April 2024, Murray and myself were honoured to represent supporters in meeting with representatives of the Ogden family before the Dorking Wanderers game.
The purpose of the meeting was for us to receive an update on progress and for us to report back.
They had had a number of meetings prior to meeting the Trust, including with politicians, the RDA and Crown Oil, as well as club staff.
There is no announcement to be made as yet, but at this stage, the Ogdens have achieved what they had set out to do at the start of the due diligence process. This had been made possible by swift and transparent cooperation from the club board and staff. So far, there have been no concerns that everything has not been disclosed and will not emerge from the woodwork after a deal has been concluded.
The next stage involves time-consuming detail, such as finalising the board and additional staffing structures, as well as budgets for next season. Season card and matchday ticket pricing was touched upon.
With regards Trust representation on the main club board, this was discussed at some length, and it was agreed to send by email the supporting documents we had drawn up based on FSA guidelines for further review. We also discussed the fan engagement programme.
In summary, good and positive progress has been made and planning for next season is well underway. There will be no glossy brochure or presentation announcing a multi-year plan, rather just some old fashioned sleeves rolled up endeavours to help put the club onto a sustainable financial footing.
