Report on Charity Night

A charity night was held in the Dale Bar on Saturday evening.

It was an absolutely fantastic evening, a packed house & raised a staggering £3,644.73 for trust member – Emily Bannister & the three nominated charities  (CLIC Sargent / The Little Princess Trust / Teenage Cancer Trust).

The day didn’t start too well… as Emily was due to be mascot for the home game with Bristol Rovers, however unfortunately she felt a little unwell in the morning so the family decided to be cautious & kept her in bed till the evening, to save her energy for the main event!

After the game an unbelievable moment came when a group of club staff (incl. Hilly, players & directors) surprised Emily & family, before the event in the Dale Bar. It was such a heart warming moment to see the staff spend time with this brave 12 year old and then Hilly shocked the family making a large donation. We may not notice, but at times like these we do really have a special club (this wouldn’t happen at a bigger club!).

Sadly Joe Thompson could not make the event due to family commitments, however he’s actually arranged to visit Emily later this week.

The night itself went very well indeed (it was great to see Ratcliffes packed to the rafters!), however I do feel half the man after I was volunteered (not sure how that happened) to be cut up by the magician.

Too many people to thank, however special mention to Tommo who organised the sponsored shave (2 volunteers) & John Priestly who walked with a bucket from the National Football Museum to Crown Oil Arena.

Finally the Bannister Family (all Dale Trust members) would like to thank again the Supporters Trust / Dale in the Community Trust for the support of the event.
