Andy Barlow is the Club’s guest of honour on Saturday at hospitality entertaining fans in the 1907 Lounge about his time at Dale from 1997-99
Born 24th November 1965 with a senior career encompasing Oldham Athletic, Bradford City (on loan) Blackpool, Rochdale, its the Trusts and the Clubs privaledge to see him back here in what he knew as Spotland and is now the newly returfed COA.
He began his career with his hometown club, Oldham Athletic, spending ten of his eleven years at Boundary Park playing under manager Joe Royle including the 1990 Football League Cup Final.
In 1995, he signed for Blackpool, with whom he spent two years before joining Dale, where he brought his playing career to a close after 68 appearances. He scored his only goal for the Club against Brighton in a 1–1 draw with the last touch of his professional career having selected the team with David Hamilton after Graham Barrow was relieved of the manger’s responsibilities.
Overall, he played in all four divisions including both the old Division One and the Premier League accumulating 412 appearances, scoring 8 goals.
Post-retirement, he became a coach with the PFA, a role where he continues to fulfil using his varied coaching background from grass roots, Professional Academy and First Team level to underpin his delivery of the L2 CCF, UEFA “B” and “A” Licence as the PFA Regional Coach Educator in Yorkshire.
