Harvey Gilmour’s 61st min winner completed a remarkable team win on a day which saw two teams successful, and the second team were not footballers but the valiant staff and support volunteers who worked the miracle and got the game on against a back drop of weather determined to do just the opposite.
Following our post the other day HERE where we thanked the club for making good Jamie’s words that they would take all measures possible to look after the pitch it seems that the club’s efforts and the amazing work by the grounds volunteers helping the staff that we had a playable pitch for Saturdays game.
Once again the Ogdens have shown their commitment to the Dale by forking out (pun intended) for the MacLeod Dome pitch cover including the expert staff who erected and the disassembled.

Being inflatable this enabled work to continue under the cover to try and reduce the waterlogged parts of the pitch, which led to the postponement of the Scunthorpe game.
All sounds simple! Well not really, this really was a team Rochdale event where staff, contractors and the volunteer pitch Cover team made something happen, and that was the game, which during the week looked likely to be sabotaged by the weather, which in fairness was horrible.
Once again, many thanks to the Ogdens for the balloon, and special thanks to those that gave their time in making a pitch with a “reputation” playable.
And thanks to that man Gilmour for the cherry on the cake!
