Amazing Exiles Day at the Crown Oil Arena
Last Saturday, the Trust’s “exiles’ designated game” became a hugely popular event, and for those who may have missed it, we defeated Boston 1-0!
On a day that Dale Trust members who live afar travel the distance to enjoy hospitality and a game at the COA sponsored by the Daletrust the match result was the icing on the cake.
We welcomed a large group of Maltese Dale Fans who travelled from afar. The Maltese “Mafia,” organised by our own Noel Micalef, were present in significant numbers, and we have included some shots of them at the end of the article.
The Maltese contingent and Daleys from across Britain enjoyed a great event, hosted by former footballer Willie Burns and Trust staff.
A big thank you to Willie Burns for making the long trip from Scotland to meet with the 36+ supporters on Exiles Day for the match against Boston United. He thoroughly enjoyed the day on his fifth visit, celebrating our continued success and catching up with an old colleague, Peter Costello (who we have featured on our Former Player Site before)
Willie is already inquiring about next season! Who knows, we might be entertaining in League Two; now that would be a special day.
Thank you to all the staff at the club for their assistance with this event, and a special thank you to Dale Trust Board Director and former player, Keith Hicks, for organising our guest speaker. However, I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to our Exiles mastermind, Trust Director, and organiser of all Exile member matters, Ian Goodwin. His meticulous planning made this a special day for everyone, even though he could not attend due to prior engagements. It’s clear that we managed to have a great day, even without you, Ian! You were missed!
