Pitch Update- Statement By Andy Duff.

To ensure everyone is up to date with pitch details, we publish below a statement by Andy Duff (first published on the RAC official site) on pitch developments to date.
Andy Duff, Managing Director of Rochdale AFC, has shared the following update on the pitch works at the Crown Oil Arena ⤵️

“Significant progress was made on the rebuild pre-Christmas and over the New Year, which has enabled the project to be ahead of schedule.
“The last few days have seen us face some difficult weather conditions, with the unwelcome frost affecting some of the machinery that produces the upper root zone, which is the final surface layer to be put down before the turf is laid.
“At the time of writing, around 80% of the upper root zone is now on site at the Crown Oil Arena, and the balance is due to be produced and delivered by the end of the week.
“Between Saturday and Tuesday, these materials will be placed on the surface of the pitch, which is a comfortable timeframe to deliver this schedule of work.
“The new playing surface is currently at the turf farm, who are completing their final preparations for harvesting. We expect the turf to be harvested next week, on Tuesday 13th January, then delivered and laid on the pitch from Wednesday 14th to Saturday 17th.
“If this realistic timeline is achieved, the project will be completed two days ahead of schedule and give the new pitch seven days of preparation work before the first game, against Truro City on Saturday 24th January.
“We can also confirm to supporters that the nature of the Hero carpet solution means that, even if small delays do occur, the new surface could be finished as late as Thursday 22nd, with the Truro match unaffected.
“We will continue to provide updates on the works over the next fortnight.”

The Trust would like to thank Andy for his timely update on pitch progress, which, given the inclement weather, was prompting some fans to question the progress to date.
