For some, the name Tony Ford may not mean much; if that’s the case, then you are likely among our younger fan base. However, for most, it is synonymous with commitment and impressive player statistics.
Tony finished his career at the Dale when he was over 40 and still playing regularly. He was part of the management team alongside Steve Parkin, who himself continues to work at a high level as an assistant manager at Wrexham. Together, they were predecessors to the Hillcroft era.
Tony was a record holder, though that may have changed now. Back in early 1999, he played in his 825th career league game, breaking Terry Paine’s record for career appearances by an outfield player.
