The Dale Trust Guide to Travelling to Truro.
There is a lot of information available about travelling to away grounds; this guide is intended to be used in conjunction with that information. It’s not definitive, but it may be helpful to the Traveller.
Have you got your ticket? If not, click HERE. Like other grounds, you have to register with the club first.
Truro City is, according to the AA route planner, 5 hours 44 minutes away (non-stop), which is 348.6 miles. That is probably the longest journey most will have ever made, if you actually make it that is. In reality, with pit stops for breaks and without road works, it will be 7 hours!

We understand that various arrangements will be made, including weekend stopovers, overnight trips, and all involving cars, trains, and even planes.
We appreciate that there is no Trust coach for this Trip, but for those who want to travel on Friday, National Coaches can accommodate, and at a reasonable price. However, please note the actual travel time it takes and whether it is a return ticket.
We have broken this guide down into two parts: the main journey by car or train, including the station and airport details for those flying.
The second part is for when you are near the ground and in Truro itself.
The Journey.
We have planned the journey from Rochdale. However, recognising that our southern Exile DALEYS may want to attend, we have included additional journey links from London, Bristol, and Southampton and Norwich. Each link provides details about the journey, which we hope will be helpful..
By car. While most, if not all, will be using SATNAVS (Here is the postcode you need for Truro City FC TR4 9AN) there is some information that might help, especially if, or more accurately when, you hit traffic below Birmingham.
The route we planned starts from the COA, so it requires some adaptation. We used the AA Routefinder, which updates regularly and offers alternatives if needed.
The route we examined can be found HERE. It offers a detailed breakdown of the journey, including directions and key points to focus on. This resource is accessible on any device with internet access. You also have the option to customise it by avoiding specific areas and known traffic issues.
For those who prefer a printed version, it is included below.

By Train.
Again, depending on your weekend plans Trains can be used, there are several booking sites to use and we include them below, its worth remembering that the return train after the game, ie 7.30 pm onwards will be a very long journey indeed, timewise that is, arriving well into next day, so using the Train will probably be for those that plan a over night (at least ) stop over.
Truro is on the main line between Penzance and London Paddington, with direct connections to Plymouth, Edinburgh and the Midlands. Along this mainline, you can catch one of only two sleeper services in the UK. The Night Riviera Sleeper will take you from Penzance to London Paddington (and in the return direction) six nights a week.
Here are the Train travel booking sites if you need.
- National Rail
- The Train Line
- By Train | enjoy truro (This is interesting)
There are many travel sites on the web, so it’s worth a good look around. We based our travel on departing Manchester Piccadilly Station.
How to get to the ground from Truro Station, (though we appreciate this may involve a diversion to a local hostelry in the Town itself! We help with that further down the pages.)
From the station to the ground.

The ground is approximately 3.1 miles from the station, a four-minute drive by car (Taxi), although walking isn’t really feasible as it will take a lot longer, about 1 hour and 10 minutes, and there is a slight gradient.
Buses and Taxis from the Station
To get from Truro Rail Station to Truro City FC, you can follow these options:
- Bus: Take bus routes 304, 87, T1, U1, or PR1, which pass near Truro City FC.
- Please check the latest schedules and routes for the most accurate travel information
Taxis.
There are several taxi companies in Truro that can take you from the station to the ground. They may also be useful for people staying in the area.
Below are three resources that may be helpful. Please note that the Trust has no connection to these firms we have included them becuse they have a website you may wish to peruse. For more information, please visit the Truro Tourist Information website, located at this link.
This site is excellent if you’re staying in the area, as it covers a wide range of topics, including pubs, restaurants, and numerous attractions and activities.
The Taxi firms below we have included have their own websites so you can view more details.
KC TAXIS TRURO. 01872 27299
Ekspres Cars Truro Taxi Express. 01872 830084 We have included this as it seems to have good reviews, 5/5, 17 reviews, which you can click on HERE

By Plane from Manchester. We think this is a first for us!

The nearest airport to Truro is Newquay Airport (NQY) also referred to as Cornwall Airport, about 12.5 miles away. From Manchester, it’s roughly an hour and a half flying time and is served by a regular shuttle. Newquay Airport is also accessible from many other European airports and major UK airlines.
For aeroplane and airport nerds, you can read more about Newquay airport HERE
Here are four ways to travel from Truro to Newquay Airport (NQY) and vice versa
The most economical way to travel from Truro to Newquay Airport (NQY) is by taking the line 94 bus, which costs £2 and takes about 57 minutes. More information on this is available HERE.
Your options are:
– Line 94 bus: approximately 57 minutes. Click HERE.
– Taxi: the fastest but not the cheapest option. Click HERE.
– Town Car: relatively affordable compared to a taxi. Click HERE.
Another alternative is to have friends in Cornwall; they can pick you up, and it will only cost a fiver in petrol. Click HERE
Ok, more interesting stuff: Pubs and Restaurants in Truro that may appeal.
The three pubs listed below have received recommendations from fans who know Truro and have visited; we have no further information.
Try Dowr. (That’s its name) It’s a Wetherspoons Pub
Lemon Quay, Truro, Cornwall, TR1 2LW
It’s a Wetherspoon, we guess Daleys will approve?
The City Inn, Pydar Street TR1 3SP
We are told that it is a Pub with a secret garden and Accommodation! Has to be worth a shout,

Mangos Sports Bar. 58 Little Castle Street TR1 3DL Truro,
Mangos Sports Bar is a newly refurbished city centre sports bar and late-night venue, featuring live entertainment and a games room with 16 retro arcade games.
These are just three options, all serving food, but make sure to check their hours. Since many fans will be staying overnight for this fixture, we’ve included a guide below with ten other pubs and restaurants to consider. They are all close to the city and only a short taxi ride away from the ground.
The city centre is vibrant with plenty of pubs and very cosmopolitan eateries. Indian, Bangladeshi, Chinese, Nepalese, Italian, English, French, Egyptian, Turkish and Geordie…
For fans staying overnight in either Newquay (15 miles away) or Falmouth (9 miles). Both towns have ample accommodation and arguably a more vibrant nightlife, though that’s only anecdotal.
Here is a further list of 12 more places you may want to try in Truro, click HERE
So on to the ground and the match itself.
The map below, though not the best gives you a reflection on the where the ground is in relation to Truro centre, remember its approx 3.3 miles from the station to the ground.

We have enlarged the right-hand side, with Truro City below. Note the Railway Station at the top left.

Below is a slightly larger version of the Truro FC area from maps above.

The Ground

Truro City’s ground is called the Truro City Stadium, although it may be signposted as the Truro Sports Hub. The full address is West Langarth, Three Milestone, Truro, TR4 9AN. Click the postcode link for much more information.
The games at Truro City are classified as segregated or non-segregated. Rochdale’s game is segregated. Away supporters’ terracing will be signposted on the day. Although initially allocated 300 tickets, additional ground space will be available for a further 300 should it be required. Therefore, we do not know precisely which part of the ground we will be in, but we understand that for Daleys, it will be Turnstile Five & Six: For Away fans only, both advance and on-the-day sales.
No Drum Allowed, in fact, Truro have a list of prohibited items, so we suggest their stewards will be on the ball!
As mentioned, no drums are allowed (inside the ground !), and no flagpoles. So, if you’re taking your DALE 1907 flag, it will be limp. Other prohibited items include,
- Alcohol, Illegal substances, Large bags or holdalls – bags larger than A4 size (210mm x 297mm) are generally not permitted, Musical instruments (including drums), Motorcycle helmets, Pyrotechnics, Air horns and whistles, Weapons and sharp objects, Footballs, Glass bottles – including perfume & aftershave bottles
- Metal cups and flasks, Food and drink.
There are no regulations covering noise, so give it your all, Daleys!
Parking.
Parking is free at the ground (so we have been told but don’t hold us to it) and is usually accessible, With games being popular now that the club is in the National League, it’s suggested that you get there early to grab a spot, but as mentioned, there is parking further along before the ground and an even larger parking area at and on the Langarth Park & Ride site (see below) and it is FREE. (This is recommended)
It’s an easy walk to the ground from the Park & Ride site, although there’s a slight gradient on the way. Park and Ride buses are advertised as running every 15 minutes on match days. It’s a pleasant, short walk, which takes only a few minutes. You can find this parking here, postcode for GPS is: TR4 9AN and if you have the What 3 Words app, what3words ///withdraws.lavished.coffee
Food And Drink.
Hot food and drink concessions are available at the Western End (segregated games). Alcohol is not permitted for sale or consumption in view of the pitch, 30 minutes before kick-off and 15 minutes after full-time. This info we have taken from the Truro website; there may be external mobile hospitality, but we have not been advised.
Onward Journey, be it your hotel or the slog home.
The return journey, even if it’s the next day or two, will involve roadworks. The M5 is frequently affected by these works and has speed restrictions. Depending on the time of day, there may also be numerous diversions, particularly when transitioning from the M5 to the M6.
If you have a Garmin satnav that does not come with live traffic updates, you can download the Garmin Drive app to your phone or any other device connected to the web. This app connects to your satnav via Bluetooth, provided your device is Bluetooth compatible. It offers accurate traffic updates and can be very useful. You can read more about the app and download it for free here.
If you have a TomTom sat nav, their app is available from the usual download stores for Apple or Android.
