Standing Together: Addressing Sexism in Football and Supporting Mental Health

Hi all,

Following our 2025/26 season launch, where we officially partnered with the Dale Supporters Trust,

We are currently seeking passionate fans to join our advocate team here at Rochdale, not only to help promote our message but also to ensure the matchday experience at Dale is inclusive, supportive, and welcoming for all.

We’re looking for committed individuals (aged 18 and over) who can be a point of contact in their stand on matchdays, someone fans can turn to for support or guidance and also to help us plan and deliver our annual dedicated fixture, and be part of broader efforts to promote the Her Game Too ethos across the club and community. Initially, within local grassroots ladies’ football, and to this end, HGT have signed with the Dale Supporters Trust an “Agreement of Cooperation and Support” This is an agreement which has HGT’s official approval and is endorsed by the club. See HERE

Interested? We have put together a simple “Job Description” and though not exclusive, it forms the basis for what we are looking for in an advocate. There is flexibility, though, and we would love to discuss how you think you could contribute. Have a look HERE

Week Commencing 21st July is The Club’s “Volunteers Week”

Week Commencing 21st July is The Clubs “Volunteers Week”

“Volunteers Week” is a club initiative supported by CAD and the Supporters Trust. Over the years, the Trust has consistently led efforts to promote and provide volunteer opportunities. Now, more than ever, the club’s Fan Services team, led by Ruby Loynd, has developed an engaging program that allows fans and volunteers to help prepare the COA for the upcoming season. The Trust aims to encourage as many members as possible to support this effort.

This week is designed to accommodate everyone, allowing individuals to contribute as much time as they can spare. If you have fundamental trade skills, that would be even better! For example, this correspondent, under the supervision of “Her Indoors,” recently painted some walls, which certainly qualifies as a useful endeavour. Supervision on the day will be provided by qualified staff who will appreciate the enthusiasm shown by volunteers.

Help Needed with Re-stickering Season Ticket Seats.

9 July 2025 Dale Trust Trust News 0

The Trust has agreed with the Club that, for the league season beginning on 9th August, all Season Card Holders’ seats will display a reserved sticker. This aims to help prevent their Reserved Seats from being mistakenly occupied by others, as in previous seasons.

The Trust has sponsored the stickers, and we are seeking the help of volunteers—just as in past occasions—to attach them to the relevant seats. The planned date for this project is Saturday, 2nd August at 10 am, before the pre-season friendly against Manchester United Under-21s. If you are willing to assist, please get in touch with us at info@daletrust.co.uk.

If it proceeds as smoothly as last time, it should take only a few hours.

We would be delighted to hear from you, as will the Season Card Holders, who will benefit directly from your involvement.

Football Without Fans Is Nothing.

22 June 2025 Dale Trust Trust News Comments Offon “Football Without Fans Is Nothing.

The Trust is delighted to announce a new partnership with our colleagues from the Birmingham City Women’s Supporters Group, whose chair, Barry Ross, we met at the recent FSA conference/AGM in Manchester. It may have been a happy coincidence, or perhaps just good luck, but what were the odds that a coffee queue with over three hundred delegates would result in representatives from two groups—who had never met before—sharing a milk jug? It turned out we had interests that were not only timely but also relevant to both groups for the upcoming season and beyond.

With the Daletrust agenda for the upcoming season and beyond focusing on including and nurturing the women’s game, particularly from the “Her Game Too” perspective and at the grassroots level, it was inspiring to learn that fans from a major club like Birmingham City had recently come together (in 2020, during the Pandemic Era) to create a supportive community not only to help each other through tough times but also to foster the growth of the Birmingham City Ladies team.

And so, this small group of “Bluenoses” formed Birmingham City Women’s Supporters Group. Recognised by their club as a valid supporter organisation, this small but growing band of supporters (Already at 200 plus) has already developed into something rather special.

Key to their growth was joining the FSA as associate members, adopting protocols and constitutional practices promoted by the FSA. As supporters group chair Barry Ross said, “Joining the FSA was Important as it gave us a strong foundation to build the group using sound and proven practices. It also gave us the chance to meet and look to the future together!”

The Dale Supporters Trust and Birmingham City Women’s Supporters Group are united by their shared passion for promoting the women’s game at every level. While Dale’s senior team may currently be in leagues below “The Bluenoses,” our love for football is the common thread that connects us all. We wholeheartedly embrace the belief that “Football Without Fans Is Nothing!

Together, we hope to embark on an exciting long-term venture with both groups, providing mutual support for all aspects of the women’s game where each has an influence, sharing ideas and engaging as many people as possible in the women’s (and men’s) football.

Moving Forward. A meeting between the two groups is scheduled soon (Subject to holidays and work commitments) to explore ways forward and for personnel from both groups to meet officially, set targets, and establish goals.

The Dale Trust is committed to the goal of increasing football attendances at Rochdale. Through engagement and cooperation within the community, we hope that curiosity translates into a rise in football attendance, and no one has ever said that the attendance build should not include the women’s game, have they?

More Blotters, Less Water, Approved.

Voting among Trust members to approve the purchase of several pitch blotters—first introduced here—to aid in the removal of standing water on the rain covers before their removal closed on Friday at 5 PM. The results showed overwhelming support for the project, with a total of 197 votes cast. Of those, 98.48% (194 votes) were in favour, while 1.52% (3 votes) were against.

Many thanks to all members who participated in the survey. We shall advise the Club that the Trust has agreed to sponsor the project, the result of which, we are confident, will significantly assist the ground staff in protecting the pitch to enable on-the-pitch performance during the season to be provided with the best possible conditions to succeed.”
