Dale Ladies didn’t quite get the silverware this time.

As reported on Saturday, the Dale Ladies team was on the precipice of winning silverware with their cup final game against Manchester Laces set to kick off at 2pm.

It was never going to be easy; unfortunately, this time, “Laces” got the better of the Dale team, winning 4.0.

But let’s take a moment to appreciate the team’s hard work! While the outcome might not be what we hoped for, they played some fantastic games this year. Beyond the league matches, the women’s team excelled in the qualifiers and quarterfinals and then triumphed in their semifinal!

Out of all the other teams, except for Laces, they made it to the cup final, and that’s definitely something to celebrate!

Team coach Lee Atkinson expressed elsewhere his disappointment at the result but appreciated the bigger picture. “It’s a difficult one to take; we just weren’t ourselves,” said Lee.

I believe what truly matters is that we shouldn’t let this game define our season. We have so much to be proud of, and we will definitely learn from this experience!

The Dale Supporters Trust wholeheartedly supports all the Daley women’s teams, who have displayed incredible dedication throughout the season. That commitment truly paid off as Saturday’s team made it to the finals! Support for the women’s game nationally is high; locally, the future is bright, and the Dale Supporters Trust is exploring ways to help our ladies maintain momentum and for all teams to strive for silverware if possible.
