Trust Newsletter – 7th April

On Sunday, we emailed out our latest newsletter to our members. Here it is:

Reg Jenkins tribute
We were delighted to learn this week that the family of Reg Jenkins will be the guests of both the club and the Trust for the final game of the season when we host Plymouth Argyle. The Trust will be making a presentation to Reg’s family at the Awards Evening that night. Tickets are available for this function costing just £1, with all proceeds going towards Cystic Fibrosis. They can be purchased from the main office, the club shop and the Trust desk on matchdays.

Pitch Covers
The Trust are pleased to announce that they have finally purchased a set of pitch covers for the football club. Through the Trust, Dale supporters raised in excess of £30,000 during the promotion season initially with a view to help fund a new training facility, before changing to a target of pitch covers. A very long drawn out and frustrating period followed, but finally we have placed an order for a set of covers that will be ready for the start of the 2013-14 season. A full Trust statement is available here.

Supporters Player of the Season
We know we’ve been bombarding you with polls over the last few weeks but it is now time to start voting for your Player of the Season. You can either vote online by clicking here, or you can do so in person by visiting the club shop or the Trust desk on matchdays. The deadline for voting will be Sunday 21st April, with the presentation taking place at the Awards Evening on Saturday 27th April. And if you keep checking our website, you will see we are running a number of polls as we compile the Goal of the Season competition.

Friends of the Trust
We’ve continued to add to our Friends of the Trust to the benefit of Dale supporters. This week we have added The Cemetery Pub and James Campbell Associates. The Cem is offering 20% off food on production of the Trust membership cards, whilst architectural firm James Campbell Associates will offer 10% discount to Trust members for any domestic works. We will continue to add to our every growing list of benefit to our members in the next few weeks. As always, if the company you work for wishes to get involved, then please get in touch.

Stewart Elvidge
We were saddened to hear the news this week of the death of Trust member Stewart Elvidge. Stewart was an incredibly popular and well liked Dale supporter, and was always ready with an opinion on anything and everything. He’d more than done his bit for the club, whether it be driving Dale supporters up and down the country, representing the club on Soccer AM or writing for the 90’s fanzine Exceedingly Good Pies. He’ll certainly be missed by one and all.
